Cardano is moving closer to its next protocol upgrade as a crucial software release draws near. Fresh updates indicate that the network is preparing to deploy a key node version required for the upcoming hard fork. This development has intensified attention across the ecosystem as stakeholders track progress toward Protocol 11.
According to Intersect, a member-based organization within the Cardano ecosystem, the prerelease of Cardano Node 10.7.0 is expected within days. This version stands out because it plays a central role in enabling the van Rossem hard fork. At the same time, it introduces additional features that extend beyond basic upgrade requirements.
Moreover, this release follows the earlier rollout of Node 10.6.2 in February, which marked the beginning of preparation efforts. However, Node 10.7.0 carries greater importance because it sets the stage for ecosystem-wide integration and testing. As a result, developers and infrastructure providers are now preparing to incorporate the new version into their systems.
Once released, integration across tools and platforms will begin immediately. This phase is essential because it allows developers to evaluate performance and identify any potential issues. Consequently, feedback from this stage may lead to further refinements before final deployment.

Ecosystem Prepares as Testing and Tooling Align
Alongside the node release, supporting infrastructure is also advancing in parallel. DBSync, which enables access to blockchain data, is expected to launch a compatible version shortly after Node 10.7.0 becomes available. Additionally, developers have confirmed that this upgrade does not include serialization changes, reducing risks for hardware wallet users.
Meanwhile, testing environments continue to play a key role in the rollout process. The prerelease version of Node 10.7.0 is already positioned for early testing, allowing developers to explore new features. Furthermore, the Preview and PreProd testnets will adopt the updated protocol before the mainnet transition.
SanchoNet has already moved to Protocol 11, enabling developers to test new Plutus built-in functions in advance. These updates introduce capabilities such as array handling, modular exponentiation, and improved cryptographic operations. Consequently, developers gain access to more efficient tools for building and optimizing smart contracts.
In addition, smart contract tooling such as Scalus has been updated to support these enhancements. This coordinated progress across infrastructure components suggests that the ecosystem is aligning ahead of the hard fork. At the same time, the van Rossem upgrade remains an intra-era change, meaning it does not alter transaction structures.
Cardano’s latest node release signals that the hard fork process is entering a critical phase. With testing underway and ecosystem readiness improving, the network is advancing toward a controlled and stable Protocol 11 rollout.
