XRP Ledger Validators Face Urgent Upgrade Deadline Before Network Lockout

  • XRPL validators risk network isolation before crucial amendment activation deadline arrives.
  • New XRPL update fixes NFTs, vaults, permissioned domains, and lending operations.
  • Validator coordination becomes essential as only forty percent completed software upgrades.

XRP Ledger Foundation community director Hussein Zangana warned validators that failing to upgrade to XRPL version 3.1.3 could disconnect their nodes from the network within days. According to Vet, only around 40% of XRPL validators have updated their software more than a week after the latest release became available. Consequently, many node operators now risk amendment blocking once the network activates the update on May 27.

The XRP Ledger Foundation recently released XRPL version 3.1.3 with a default-enabled amendment named fixCleanup3_1_3. The update introduces several fixes connected to NFTs, permissioned domains, vaults, and the lending protocol.

According to details shared by Vet, validators running outdated software versions will lose communication with the XRP Ledger network after activation. XRPL automatically blocks older nodes because they cannot correctly interpret the updated rules. The amendment has already entered its two-week activation period, according to XRPScan data. Therefore, validators now face a limited time to complete the upgrade process before enforcement begins.

XRPL Update Introduces Important NFT and Vault Fixes

The latest XRPL software update resolves multiple technical issues affecting network operations. One major fix targets expired NFTokenOffer entries that previously remained stored on the ledger unnecessarily. Under the new amendment, XRPL automatically removes expired NFT offers during transaction processing. Developers expect the adjustment to improve ledger efficiency while reducing unnecessary data accumulation.

Additionally, the amendment strengthens protections tied to permissioned domains. The update introduces invariant checks preventing failed transactions from modifying those domains incorrectly. The new release also fixes a trust line token limit issue connected to vault asset withdrawals. According to the update notes, earlier software versions occasionally skipped that verification process during specific transactions.

Besides those fixes, the update reflects ongoing development activity within the XRP Ledger ecosystem. Developers continue expanding lending, vault, and tokenized asset functionality across the network.

Validator Coordination Becomes Critical Ahead of Activation

The relatively low upgrade rate has increased discussion across the XRP community. Validators remain essential to XRPL governance because network amendments require broad consensus support before activation. According to Vet, amendment blocking exists to protect ledger accuracy rather than punish validators. Once new rules activate, outdated servers cannot properly validate transactions or participate in consensus decisions.

Consequently, validators operating older software versions may temporarily lose synchronization with the broader network until they complete the migration. The approaching deadline has also highlighted the importance of coordination during major XRPL software transitions. Network operators now face growing pressure to update before the amendment activates later this month.

XRP Ledger validators now have limited time remaining before amendment blocking begins on May 27. With only 40% of nodes reportedly upgraded, many validators risk temporary network isolation if they fail to install XRPL version 3.1.3 before activation.
