Coinbase Wallet Adds Pulse Mode for Faster Mobile Perpetual Futures Trading

Coinbase Wallet Adds Pulse Mode for Faster Mobile Perpetual Futures Trading

In Brief:

  • Coinbase Wallet introduced Pulse Mode, allowing mobile users to access supported perpetual futures through a simplified trading interface within one application.
  • Rebranding the Base App strengthens Coinbase’s wider strategy of combining asset management, trading, and onchain services under one mobile platform.
  • Traders gain easier market access, although leverage, funding costs, liquidation risks, and regional eligibility requirements remain important considerations for users.

Coinbase has introduced Pulse Mode within Coinbase Wallet, giving mobile users direct access to supported perpetual futures markets. According to Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong, the feature offers traders a simpler and more engaging experience through the mobile application.

Its release accompanied the rebranding of the Base App as Coinbase Wallet, uniting several services under a familiar product name. Coinbase aims to make onchain trading more accessible while keeping users connected to its expanding cryptocurrency ecosystem.

Pulse Mode concentrates on perpetual futures, commonly called perps, which allow traders to speculate on cryptocurrency price movements. Unlike traditional futures, perpetual contracts have no expiration date and use funding payments to track underlying spot market prices.

Coinbase designed the mode to simplify the complex dashboards commonly associated with cryptocurrency derivatives platforms. Consequently, traders can examine supported markets, monitor positions, and execute orders without leaving the wallet environment.

The feature also introduces a more visually engaging interface suited to users who make trading decisions through mobile devices. Moreover, its layout reduces unnecessary steps between selecting a market and opening an eligible perpetual futures position.

Pulse Mode Expands Coinbase Wallet Beyond Digital Asset Storage

Pulse Mode strengthens Coinbase Wallet’s transformation from a storage application into a wider platform for onchain financial activity. Previously, traders often needed separate exchanges or decentralized applications to access derivatives and other advanced cryptocurrency services.

Combining those functions within one application could simplify navigation for users already familiar with Coinbase products. Additionally, the rebrand connects the wallet more clearly with Coinbase’s established identity and extensive global customer base.

The Base ecosystem remains central to the company’s onchain strategy, supporting decentralized applications, payments, trading, and other blockchain services. However, adopting the Coinbase Wallet name may help users understand the application’s purpose without learning another separate brand.

Supported users can locate Pulse Mode inside the mobile application and explore the perpetual futures markets available within their jurisdictions. Availability may vary because countries apply different rules to cryptocurrency derivatives, leverage, and retail trading access. Therefore, customers could face eligibility checks or regional restrictions before using the feature to open perpetual positions.

Perpetual Futures Risks Remain Important for Mobile Traders

Pulse Mode offers convenience, but it does not reduce the financial risks connected with leveraged cryptocurrency trading. Rapid price movements can trigger substantial losses when the market moves against a trader’s position or available collateral.

Funding costs may also affect returns because traders periodically exchange payments to keep perpetual prices aligned with spot markets. Users must understand leverage, liquidation thresholds, collateral requirements, and funding rates before entering any available perpetual contract.

Coinbase’s latest feature expands its mobile trading capabilities while placing more on-chain services inside a single wallet application. Overall, Pulse Mode supports the company’s broader effort to combine asset management and active trading through one accessible mobile platform.
