- Anthropic targets $10B raise as investor appetite for advanced AI grows
- GIC and Coatue reportedly lead funding pushing valuation near $350B
- Enterprise demand for Claude strengthens Anthropic’s position in AI race
Anthropic is drawing renewed investor attention as it moves to raise $10 billion in fresh capital, signaling growing confidence in its position within the artificial intelligence market. According to The Wall Street Journal, the proposed funding round values Anthropic at about $350 billion, representing a sharp increase from its previous valuation.
The funding round is reportedly being led by GIC and Coatue Management, according to people familiar with the matter, although the final size and structure of the deal could still change. Significantly, the new valuation nearly doubles Anthropic’s earlier $183 billion level, which followed a $13 billion Series F round backed by ICONIQ Capital, Fidelity Management, and Lightspeed Venture Partners.
The fundraising reflects continued momentum in artificial intelligence investment, as investors increasingly believe that scale and early leadership could define long-term dominance. Founded in 2021, Anthropic was established by Dario Amodei and Daniela Amodei, with the company maintaining a strong focus on enterprise-oriented AI development since launch.
Its chatbot Claude has gained popularity among business users, as many companies value its coding performance alongside its safety-focused design.

AI security research highlights risks alongside growth
Alongside fundraising momentum, Anthropic has also highlighted emerging security risks tied to advanced AI systems. According to the company’s latest report, AI models now demonstrate the ability to uncover weaknesses in blockchain infrastructure.
Anthropic tested advanced models, including Claude Opus 4.5 and Claude Sonnet 4.5, within a simulated blockchain environment. The experiment focused on smart contracts with known vulnerabilities.
During testing, the AI agents successfully identified and exploited flaws across previously compromised contracts. As a result, the models simulated the theft of $4.5 million from 17 of the 34 tested contracts.
Moreover, the findings underline how powerful AI tools can amplify existing risks within digital asset ecosystems. Developers and security teams now face increased pressure to strengthen contract audits and defenses.
Major capital commitments deepen AI competition
Beyond the current round, Anthropic is also linked to up to $15 billion in planned investments from Nvidia and Microsoft, expanding its total capital backing, according to the Journal. Moreover, Anthropic projects breaking even by 2028, a timeline that reportedly places it ahead of rival OpenAI.
Anthropic is also expected to pursue an initial public offering this year, while OpenAI is reportedly exploring a separate fundraising effort of up to $100 billion. AI companies captured close to half of all global venture funding in 2025, with Crunchbase estimating total AI investment at about $202 billion.
However, The Wall Street Journal estimates the figure closer to $222 billion, though both sources point to sustained investor interest. The largest single round went to OpenAI, which raised $40 billion with backing from SoftBank, while several firms secured rounds exceeding $5 billion. Those companies included Anthropic, Scale AI, Project Prometheus, and xAI, founded by Elon Musk, highlighting how capital continues concentrating among leading AI developers.
