Big News: Ripple Now Offers XRP Futures to Institutional Clients Through Coinbase – Details

  • Ripple Prime now enables institutional clients to trade XRP futures.
  • Coinbase Derivatives integration expands Ripple Prime access to regulated crypto markets.
  • Nodal Clear partnership connects Ripple clients with Coinbase derivatives.

Institutional access to XRP derivatives expanded after Ripple integrated Coinbase Derivatives markets into its Ripple Prime brokerage platform through a clearing partnership with Nodal Clear. As a result, Ripple Prime clients can now trade crypto futures, including BTC, XRP, ETF, and SOL, within a regulated environment designed for institutional participants seeking structured exposure to digital assets.

Ripple confirmed the development alongside Nodal Clear and Coinbase Derivatives, explaining that the integration enables Ripple Prime users to access the complete suite of derivatives contracts listed on the Coinbase Derivatives exchange. Significantly, this includes both institutional-sized XRP futures contracts and nano contracts designed to support smaller trading positions.

These contracts operate within a framework regulated by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), which provides institutions with a compliant environment for trading cryptocurrency derivatives tied to XRP and other digital assets.

Moreover, the exchange operates on a continuous 24-hour schedule, allowing global participants to manage trading strategies and risk exposure without interruptions across different time zones.

Ripple Expands Institutional Trading Infrastructure Through Ripple Prime Integration

Access to Coinbase Derivatives markets became possible through Hidden Road Partners CIV US LLC, the Futures Commission Merchant acquired by Ripple and later integrated into its institutional trading platform.

Following the acquisition, the firm was incorporated into Ripple Prime’s operational structure and now serves as the clearing channel connecting Ripple’s clients with derivatives exchanges. Ripple Prime operates as a multi-asset brokerage platform that combines technology-driven prime brokerage services with clearing and financing infrastructure designed for institutional digital asset trading.

Consequently, institutional clients using Ripple Prime can access derivatives markets while managing exposure through a single integrated trading framework. Ripple Prime President Noel Kimmel explained that the partnership with Nodal Clear and Coinbase Derivatives broadens exchange coverage while introducing new futures trading opportunities for institutional customers across global markets.

He added that integrating Coinbase Derivatives within Ripple Prime strengthens the platform’s clearing structure while improving market access and trading efficiency. Paul Cusenza, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Nodal Clear, also confirmed Ripple’s entry into the clearing network while noting that Ripple clients can now access Coinbase Derivatives contracts through Nodal Clear’s services.

XRP Futures Join Broader Crypto Derivatives Lineup on Coinbase Exchange

Coinbase Derivatives currently lists several cryptocurrency futures products, including nano Bitcoin and nano Ethereum contracts designed to support smaller position sizes and flexible trading strategies. Additionally, the exchange provides institutional and nano-sized futures contracts tied to Solana and XRP, expanding the range of regulated cryptocurrency derivatives available to market participants.

Nano futures allow institutions to fine-tune trading exposure while limiting capital commitments, which supports portfolio management strategies often used by professional trading desks. Furthermore, continuous trading availability enables institutions to adjust positions and hedge market risk across global trading sessions.

Ripple Prime already maintains a large operational footprint within institutional trading infrastructure after clearing more than $3 trillion in transactions during 2025. Consequently, the addition of XRP futures through Coinbase Derivatives further strengthens Ripple’s institutional trading capabilities and expands access to regulated derivatives markets.

Ripple’s integration with Coinbase Derivatives and Nodal Clear introduces regulated crypto futures, including XRP trading for institutional clients using the Ripple Prime platform. The development expands institutional market access while strengthening Ripple’s growing presence within digital asset derivatives infrastructure.
