Coinbase Expands Token Listings with zkSync and Moonwell, Announces New Access for New York Users

Last updated on September 9th, 2024 at 06:43 am

Coinbase revealed its listing plans this week, adding zkSync (ZK) and Moonwell (WELL) to its roadmap. On September 5, Moonwell, a decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol integrating the Moonbeam and Moonriver blockchains, confirmed its listing on Coinbase. This move shows Coinbase’s continuous expansion of its token offerings. ZkSync, a Layer-2 scaling solution for Ethereum using zk-rollups, will enable Coinbase users to access cheaper and faster transactions on the Ethereum network.

Coinbase also announced expanded token availability for New York residents. Aave (AAVE), Bancor (BNT), Basic Attention Token (BAT), BitDAO (BIT), The Graph (GRT), Ocean Protocol (OCEAN), Compound (COMP), Yearn Finance (YFI), Core (CORE), Lido DAO (LDO), Safe (SAFE), and Velodrome Finance (VELO) are now accessible on the Coinbase iOS and Android apps. New Yorkers can buy, sell, transfer, receive payments, or store these tokens on the platform.

Polygon’s Major Upgrade and New Features on Coinbase

A major update involves Polygon, as its ecosystem token (POL) is now available on Coinbase as an Experimental asset. This follows a network upgrade that replaced its MATIC token with POL. However, during the upgrade from August 26 to September 10, Coinbase paused Polygon PoS trading and related functions such as sending and receiving MATIC, VOXEL, USDC, CBETH, and WETH. Users were advised not to deposit these assets to avoid issues.

MATIC and POL tokens on Ethereum remain unaffected by the upgrade, allowing uninterrupted use by Ethereum users.

Coinbase also added the Gravity (G) token for New York residents, broadening access to more tokens. Gravity, like other newly listed tokens, is available on the Coinbase mobile apps, expanding the range of assets for users in the state. Coinbase continues to test new tokens and improve its offerings for users across different regions.
