Did Elon Musk Just Tweet About XRP?

The XRP community was in a frenzy following a screenshot shared on X (formerly Twitter) by a known crypto investor. The image, originating from a query to Grok 2 AI, suggested that Elon Musk briefly tweeted about XRP.

The significance of a direct or indirect promotion from Musk can not be over-emphasized, which is why XRP community members massively reacted to this update. Interestingly, the post was made amid a steep decline in XRP’s price. XRP previously dropped below $3, down to $2.7, but has since rebounded.

Elon Musk’s XRP Tweet Claim

Digital Asset Investor, a popular crypto enthusiast, shared a screenshot of a prompt on Grok 2, where the sophisticated X AI tool, was questioned if Elon Musk previously tweeted about XRP. Grok claimed that Musk had indeed tweeted about the Ripple-backed coin, however, the post only lasted for 20 seconds before it was deleted.

While Grok failed to produce the specifics and proof of the tweet, it claimed that it was significant enough to create a buzz and speculations within the crypto community. This generated a wave of discussion and debate as the legitimacy of the claim was thrown into question.

Meanwhile, another user shared a separate screenshot of another response from Grok which claimed that Elon Musk tweeted about his intention to buy more XRP due to its tempting dips.

Community Reacts to Musk’s Tweet Claim

Over 450,000 people viewed this report and engaged in widespread arguments. One user questioned the credibility of the report emphasizing the reach of Musk’s tweets. He stressed that Musk has tens of millions of followers and that someone should have screenshotted the tweet if it were true.

“Even if it was posted for 1 second, he has tens of millions of people who sees his tweets as “now” and not a single screenshot? Yeah, not buying this crap,” he said.

Another user, Mason Versluis, warned the community about trusting AI tools on matters relating to cryptocurrencies. He said Never trust AI about ANYTHING XRP related. Can’t believe we’re still on this lesson haha.”

XRP Dude, another user educated the community, reminding them that “Grok only browses what people are posting so Grok is just repeating what people are saying/speculating.”

Amid the argument, some users claimed that they also saw the tweet referring to Musk buying the dip and reaffirming Groks’ initial claim, while others noted that they asked Grok themselves and also carried out a Google search and got the same answer.

Reliance on AI Tools for Crypto Insights

AI tools have grown to be an unignorable part of the crypto community. Frequently, enthusiasts rely on these tools for insights, updates, and predictions. While AI models speculate using aggregated internet data, the results have been widely referenced among investors.

However, doubts about their accuracy have been raised and questioned as a verifiable source of information. In this case, the lack of evidence regarding the supposed Elon Musk tweet is a call for caution to investors who overly rely on generated information.

An X user, Holo, shared a screenshotted response from Grok pointing out that the tweet is yet to be officially confirmed by Musk and should be treated with caution.
