The two largest cryptocurrencies in the world, Bitcoin (BTC), and Ethereum (ETH) have taken center stage in a cumulative $750 million transaction between wallets. In an astonishing development, a significant amount of Bitcoin and Ethereum have been spotted moving from one wallet to another over the last 24 hours.
Staggering amounts of Bitcoin are on the move
According to reports by Whale Alert – a cryptocurrency transaction tracker, a massive 3,000 BTC (worth $85.2 million) was transferred from a wallet labeled “unknown” to the Coinbase exchange.
Shortly after, the same tracker reported two staggering transfers of 6,552 (worth $185.7 million) and 6,756 (worth $190.9 million) Bitcoin tokens between two anonymous wallets. The cumulative value of the three transactions exceeds $461.8 million.
About 4 hours later, two different transactions carrying 2,785 BTC and 2,818 BTC respectively from unknown wallets to Coinbase were also recorded. These two transactions moved approximately $158.8 million in Bitcoin to the U.S.-based crypto exchange.
Ethereum whale transactions recorded
Meanwhile, transactions carrying Ethereum were also recorded by the aforementioned tracker. Per the report, a mouth-watering 70,704 ETH tokens (worth $110.6 million) from an unknown wallet to another anonymous wallet.
Furthermore, 22,374 ETH (worth $34.7 million) tokens were transferred from an anonymous wallet to the Coinbase exchange in a single transaction. The reasons behind these huge transactions are unknown and they have raised speculations among members of the crypto community.
Besides Bitcoin and Ethereum, the popular altcoin XRP was also spotted on the move. Two separate transfers carrying 30,100,000 and 22,850,000 XRP tokens to Bitstamp and Bitso respectively were also recorded. The value of these two transactions is approximately $25.9 million.
The movement of huge amounts of XRP to Bitstamp and Bitso exchanges is becoming increasingly common. However, this can be attributed to the increasing usage of Ripple payments.
