Crypto Crash: Top Cryptocurrencies Drop as Smaller Tokens Record Gains

What to Know:

  • Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, BNB, and XRP posted notable losses.
  • XRP outperformed several major cryptocurrencies despite broader market weakness.
  • Backpack surged 87% while multiple smaller tokens recorded gains.

The cryptocurrency market extended its decline on Wednesday as several of the largest digital assets posted losses, while a group of smaller tokens delivered outsized gains. Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), XRP, Solana (SOL), BNB, and Dogecoin (DOGE) all traded lower over the past 24 hours, highlighting continued weakness among major cryptocurrencies.

Bitcoin (BTC), the largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, fell 4.1% to $67,176.72, despite generating more than $62.34 billion in trading volume and maintaining a market value of approximately $1.34 trillion. Ethereum (ETH) recorded an even larger drop, sliding 5.3% to $1,875.52 while posting daily trading volume exceeding $27.10 billion.

Across the broader market, selling pressure persisted as BNB declined 5.7% to $643.89, making it one of the weakest performers among the leading cryptocurrencies, while Solana (SOL) also moved lower, losing 5.5% to $75.09. Meanwhile, Dogecoin (DOGE) dropped 4.9% to $0.09427 as traders reduced exposure to risk assets, extending the broader decline seen across major digital assets.

XRP showed relatively stronger performance compared with several major rivals, falling 2.1% to $1.24, which represented a smaller decline than those recorded by Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), BNB, and Solana (SOL). XRP also generated more than $3.22 billion in daily trading volume and maintained a market capitalization above $77 billion.

Smaller tokens outperform despite broad market weakness

While large-cap cryptocurrencies struggled, a number of lower-ranked tokens attracted significant buying activity. Backpack (BP) emerged as the market’s strongest gainer, surging 87.0% within 24 hours. The token traded at $0.2769 and recorded more than $7.29 million in trading volume.

Yei Finance (CLO) followed with a 42.5% gain, while aPriori (APR) advanced 39.1%. Marvell Technology (Ondo Tokenized Stock) (MRVLON) climbed 30.3%, and MYX Finance (MYX) added 28.8% during the same period. Additionally, Anoma (XAN), Genius (GENIUS), MEME HORSE (MHORSE), TROLL (TROLL), and Lighter (LIT) all posted gains exceeding 20%.

The latest trading session showed that major cryptocurrencies faced sustained pressure, while smaller-cap tokens captured investor interest through strong percentage gains. As a result, market performance remained sharply divided between established digital assets and emerging tokens.
