Ripple has committed $300,000 to support flood relief operations in Nepal and Tibet. According to Ripple’s August 29 announcement on X, World Central Kitchen and Mercy Corps will receive funding. Both will provide meals, clean water, and sanitation assistance to affected residents.

Flooding has caused extensive damage in Nepal’s Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts near the Chinese border. World Central Kitchen reported that more than 100 people have died, while hundreds remain missing.

Moreover, damaged roads and unstable terrain have complicated rescue operations in mountain communities. Relief teams must navigate difficult routes to deliver supplies to displaced families and emergency workers.

Avalanche Triggered Deadly Flooding Across Mountain Communities

An ice-rock avalanche reportedly triggered the disaster by blocking the Lhende Khola River. The waterway connects with the Bhotekoshi River near mountain settlements.

Water accumulated behind the blockage before breaking through and rushing downstream. Consequently, the sudden surge damaged infrastructure, displaced residents, and restricted access to communities.

Debris from the initial collapse also created a temporary lake near the disaster area. However, the unstable formation has raised concerns about secondary flooding if water breaches the debris barrier.

Ripple Builds on Its Wider Humanitarian Support

Ripple has supported World Central Kitchen since 2020, helping the organization respond to major disasters globally. Their partnership has delivered millions of meals to affected residents and emergency personnel working there.

Additionally, the collaboration expanded beyond donations to include Ripple’s cross-border payment technology. This infrastructure can help humanitarian organizations transfer funds efficiently when financial systems face disruptions.

Mercy Corps will direct its funding toward clean water and sanitation services. These resources remain essential because floodwater can contaminate wells, damage pipelines, and increase the risk of waterborne diseases.

Ripple also partnered with Water.org in October 2025 to address food and water insecurity. Its 2025 Impact Report showed that employees raised $550,000 for nonprofit organizations worldwide.

Furthermore, 80% of employees participated in company-backed giving and volunteering programs. Employee donations and Ripple’s matching contributions have exceeded $2 million since 2018.

Ripple’s latest pledge combines immediate food assistance with public health protection. The funding will help organizations support vulnerable families while communities begin recovering from destruction.
