XRP Burn Rate Jumps 27.5% as Network Activity Reaches Two-Week High

Summary

  • XRP Ledger burned 1,114.97 XRP in transaction fees, representing a 27.5% increase and reaching its highest level in two weeks.
  • Network fee burns exceeded the 30-day average of 808.1 XRP, following October’s largest recorded spike of over 8,000 XRP.
  • Increased transaction fee consumption permanently reduces XRP supply, while growing wallet participation reflects stronger activity despite mixed market performance.

XRP Ledger recorded increased transaction fee burns on October 23, with 1,114.97 XRP destroyed, marking the highest daily total in over two weeks. According to XRPScan data, the amount represents a 27.5% increase from the previous session’s 874.27 XRP, following several days of weaker network participation.

Significantly, the latest reading also exceeded the network’s 30-day average of 808.1 XRP, highlighting stronger transaction fee consumption. The increase comes amid mixed XRP price performance, with blockchain activity showing improvement despite uncertainty surrounding the token’s market direction.

XRP Ledger Transaction Fee Burns Exceed Monthly Average

XRPScan figures indicate that transaction fee burns have fluctuated throughout October, reflecting changing levels of activity across the blockchain. Earlier this month, the network recorded its largest daily burn when transaction fees destroyed more than 8,000 XRP on October 2.

That figure remains considerably higher than the October 23, illustrating the difference between the month’s largest spike and recent activity. Meanwhile, the latest increase places daily XRP destruction approximately 38% above its monthly average, following a period of reduced transaction activity.

Unlike networks that distribute transaction fees to validators, the XRP Ledger permanently destroys the XRP collected through transaction processing. Consequently, increased fee consumption reduces the circulating supply by removing small amounts of XRP whenever users complete transactions.

The October 23 figures indicate greater fee expenditure across the network, although transaction volumes and fee levels influence daily burn totals.

XRP Supply Declines as Network Activity Strengthens

Additionally, the increase follows recent XRP Ledger activity reports showing growing wallet participation and expanding network usage during October. These developments provide further context for the latest transaction fee figures, particularly as XRP’s market performance remains uneven.

The latest burn also adds to the network’s cumulative XRP destruction, which permanently reduces the cryptocurrency’s available supply. Despite the increase, daily transaction fee burns remain relatively small compared with XRP’s overall supply and broader market activity.

The October 23 reading nevertheless represents a recovery from the previous day’s total and exceeds the network’s recent daily average. Overall, XRPScan data shows stronger transaction fee activity across the XRP Ledger, with daily burns reaching their highest level in two weeks.
