Payward and the London Stock Exchange have partnered to expand direct blockchain-based access to major UK-listed companies. According to the announcement, under the agreement, Payward will tokenize the 100 largest London-listed companies, giving eligible investors across 110 countries access to around-the-clock trading.
Each xStock represents a share with one-to-one backing while tracking prices and supporting transfers across exchanges, personal wallets, and blockchain applications. Although xStocks remain unavailable to UK-based investors, the framework gives London-listed businesses another global distribution channel and expands their potential investor base.
Payward’s xStocks framework has recorded over $40 billion in volume and $20 billion in onchain settlements, attracting more than 200,000 holders.

Supported xStocks will eventually represent securities listed across the United States, European Union, United Kingdom, and Hong Kong. Additionally, LSE member firms could access continuously traded international markets through established infrastructure.
Both companies will also explore native equity tokens issued directly through London Stock Exchange infrastructure. These tokens could carry identical shareholder rights and remain fully fungible with corresponding traditional shares.
Partnership Extends Toward Native Equity Tokens
London Stock Exchange members could therefore issue and service equities onchain within a familiar regulated environment. This structure would connect blockchain settlement with protections supporting established public markets.
Payward Co-CEO Arjun Sethi described the agreement as a bridge between blockchain access and trusted financial infrastructure. He emphasized tokenization’s capacity to change how shares trade, settle, and move.
Meanwhile, LSE CEO Julia Hoggett stressed that tokenization must preserve investor rights and regulated market standards. She also highlighted the importance of maintaining trust as markets adopt new distribution models.
The first London-listed xStocks will launch through Kraken and other supporting xStocks Alliance platforms. Overall, the partnership could reshape how UK equities reach global investors and settle through blockchain networks.
