Summary:
- Ripple invests in ZILO and Licuido to expand regulated institutional finance infrastructure across the XRP Ledger ecosystem through strategic partnerships.
- ZILO provides regulated transfer agency technology while Licuido enables tokenized asset issuance, distribution, and collateral mobility for financial institutions.
- XRPL supports low transaction costs, fast settlement, and predictable fees, while Ripple advances tokenized fund infrastructure for global capital markets.
Ripple has expanded its institutional finance strategy by investing in ZILO and Licuido, two companies developing regulated infrastructure for tokenized financial assets on the XRP Ledger. According to Ripple, the move strengthens its efforts to position the XRP Ledger as a platform for institutional issuance, settlement, and collateral management beyond its established payment services.
The investments deepen Ripple’s existing partnerships with both companies while supporting its broader objective of building infrastructure that allows traditional financial assets to move securely through regulated blockchain networks.
Ripple noted that many capital market processes still depend on legacy systems that slow settlement and limit the productive use of collateral. Consequently, financial institutions often face unnecessary delays while assets remain locked instead of supporting additional market activity.
To address those challenges, Ripple combines digital asset issuance, custody, collateral management, multi-currency investment, and atomic settlement through a single institutional platform. Additionally, its RLUSD stablecoin serves as the regulated cash asset for delivery-versus-payment transactions on the XRP Ledger.

ZILO and Licuido Expand Ripple’s Institutional Capabilities
ZILO provides transfer agency and fund administration technology that enables asset managers, custodians, and transfer agents to support tokenized share classes while maintaining regulated ownership records. As a result, institutions can adopt blockchain-based fund structures without disrupting existing compliance requirements.
Meanwhile, Licuido operates an FCA-regulated tokenization and digital ownership platform that manages asset issuance, distribution, execution, and collateral mobility. Its infrastructure allows traditional financial assets to circulate more efficiently through blockchain-based capital markets.
Ripple Senior Vice President of Trading and Markets Nigel Khakoo explained that tokenization represents only one stage of institutional digital asset adoption. He stated that greater value comes from enabling tokenized assets to settle instantly while supporting lending, borrowing, and collateral management within regulated financial environments.
Khakoo also highlighted Ripple’s partnerships with Aviva Investors, Franklin Templeton, and DBS as examples of institutions exploring tokenized fund structures. He added that ZILO and Licuido contribute critical infrastructure needed to support broader institutional participation.
Earlier Partnerships Support Ripple’s Tokenization Strategy
Earlier this year, Ripple announced a collaboration with Aviva Investors to tokenize traditional fund structures on the XRP Ledger. Ripple also worked with ZILO and Licuido to develop regulated issuance, custody, distribution, and additional institutional use cases for tokenized assets.
ZILO Chief Executive Officer Phil Goffin stated that asset managers require transfer agency systems capable of supporting tokenized share classes without increasing operational risks. He added that Ripple’s investment will help accelerate the delivery of regulated digital market infrastructure for institutional clients.
Licuido Chief Executive Officer Brian Lynch noted that tokenization alone does not unlock liquidity. Instead, regulated issuance, distribution, and collateral functionality enable institutions to generate greater value from assets already held on their balance sheets.
XRPL Powers Ripple’s Institutional Expansion
The XRP Ledger remains central to Ripple’s institutional strategy because it offers low transaction costs, predictable fees, fast settlement, and compliance-focused features. Since launching in 2012, the network has processed more than four billion transactions, supports over seven million active wallets, and operates through 120 independent validators.
Ripple’s latest investments reinforce its long-term effort to expand regulated institutional finance while increasing the practical use of tokenized assets across the XRP Ledger ecosystem.
