Do Not Fall for This – Ripple Issues Warning to XRP Holders

Ripple has issued a new warning to its global community, urging XRP holders to stay alert amid a noticeable rise in online scams.

The announcement was made through the official Ripple account on X (formerly Twitter), where the company cautioned users about ongoing fraudulent activities attempting to deceive holders into parting with their tokens.

According to Ripple, there are fake impersonators posing as executives at the company, promising to dish out fake XRP giveaways. Usually, the scammers ask you to send tokens with false claims of earning lots of money in return.

The company asserted that Ripple or its executives would never contact users to send XRP.

The post from Ripple said: “Ripple will never request that you send XRP to anyone.” Also, it noted that Ripple’s administrators, including Brad and Monica, will not do this either.

Ripple advised XRP holders to never click on questionable links and to confirm the credibility of accounts before using them. It also provided a link to an official guide about reporting and recognizing scams.

Community Members Sound the Alarm Over Ongoing Scam Activity

Members of the XRP community have responded with their warnings. One user, Mark Fouts (@markfouts73), wrote: “There is a BIG SCAMMER ON THIS PLATFORM RIGHT NOW!!!! He got me! BUT!!! IM GONNA GET HIM BACK TIMES 100.” His post suggests that scams are active, and he has fallen victim.

Another account, All Things XRP (@XRP_investing), advised users to know the XRPL’s reserve rule. The post read: “Know the XRP Reserve Rule. Each XRP wallet is required to hold 1 XRP as a base reserve (formerly, it was 10).”

Any service that requires sending 10 XRP for your wallet to be activated is likely scamming you. Legit wallets only deduct the balance from the XRPL reserve. Notably, these warnings are issued since scammers have increased their activity as market interest in XRP grows.

In fact, Ripple began its warning tweet by stating, “Uptick in the crypto market = uptick in scams.” This signifies the visible rise in scam activities as XRP continues to gain traction globally among crypto investors.

Ripple’s team and the community are now advising XRP holders to be more cautious. All users should avoid unfamiliar offers, make sure the messages are from legitimate sources, and report anything suspicious quickly. People should always stay informed and watchful as scam tactics change over time.
