Dunamu, which operates South Korea’s crypto exchange Upbit, has partnered with Visa to develop stablecoin and artificial intelligence services. According to the agreement, Dunamu’s digital asset technology will combine with Visa’s global payment network to connect crypto assets with traditional finance. Both companies will examine stablecoin payments, cross-border remittances, and AI-supported financial services within existing regulatory frameworks.
Additionally, the partners want to improve transparency, security, and interoperability when businesses use digital assets for payments. Their work will explore linking stablecoins with established payment infrastructure, reducing barriers between blockchain networks and conventional financial channels.

Moreover, Dunamu identified Open Standard’s Open USD as one potential stablecoin for projects developed through the partnership. Open USD launched in June with backing from more than 140 institutions, including Visa, Mastercard, and Google.
Although the dollar-backed stablecoin is not operational, its developers present it as shared infrastructure for digital payments. The model proposes no large-scale minting or redemption fees and distributes its reserve revenue to participating companies.
Dunamu and Samsung Electronics were listed among the OUSD consortium partners, but both companies denied having formal agreements. A Dunamu spokesperson clarified that OUSD remains only one of several stablecoin projects under consideration for services.
Consequently, Dunamu will evaluate market demand, regulation, stability, and suitability before choosing any assets for products. The company prefers an open system that can connect stablecoins to financial institutions and payment networks.
Visa Expands Stablecoin Partnerships Across South Korea
Visa’s agreement with Dunamu follows a separate partnership with Shinhan Financial Group covering stablecoins, AI, and business payments. These agreements position Visa alongside South Korean firms exploring regulated links between tokenized assets and financial infrastructure.
