Ripple Co-Founder Calls UK Home For FinTech Innovation

Ripple co-founder Charles Larsen in a new comment has hailed the UK as a home for FinTech innovation. In recent times, the United Kingdom has cemented itself as one of the most crypto-friendly countries, earning recognition from top influential personalities in the crypto space.

Larsen expressed his endorsement while quoting a tweet from British politician and Chancellor of the Exchequer, Jeremy Hunt.

The UK has, and will continue to be a home for financial and technological innovation — thank you Chancellor Jeremy Hunt for leading the charge!” he said.

Hunt’s Silicon Valley Vision

Jeremy Hunt who describes the UK as Europe’s Silicon Valley, has always reiterated his vision for transforming the country into a tech hub. He previously presented his idea speaking to tech representatives from the likes of Apple, Amazon, Meta, Microsoft, and Google.

During the speech, he explicitly outlined his plans for the country that aim to identify digital technology trends, green industries, revive the UK economy, and life sciences as major growth sectors.

Furthermore, he emphasized that the presence of Silicon Valley representatives is vital to Britain’s economic future, stressing that Britain is also important to the future of Silicon Valley.

“We must never forget the ingenuity and optimism that is our hallmark… being a technology entrepreneur changed my life. Being a technology superpower can change our country’s destiny,” Hunt said.

In addition, Hunt outlined his vision to turn the United Kingdom into Europe’s largest economy by utilizing what he calls the “four Es” – enterprise, education, employment, and everywhere.

Ripple’s London Vision

In a July interview with the Digital Pound Foundation, Susan Friedman – Ripple’s head of policy, explained the blockchain company’s vision of expanding into London.

She praised the UK government for its active and positive approach towards fintech. Susan pointed out Ripple’s planned presence in London highlighting the city’s conducive environment for the growth of crypto.

Since the court ruling in favor of Ripple, the company has been working on getting a spot on the list of registered crypto companies in the United Kingdom. Ripple had previously mentioned that it has applied for registration with the UK’s FCA (Financial Conduct Authority), and also, its preparation for an institutional licence in Ireland.
