Robinhood has finalized a deal to acquire Canadian crypto firm WonderFi for approximately $179 million. The move signals the company’s official expansion into the Canadian market and triggered a sharp rally in HOOD stock, which rose nearly 9.47 percent to $62.77 following the announcement.
In the terms of the agreement, WonderFi’s Robinhood agreed to buy all the outstanding shares of WonderFi at CAD 0.36 per share. This offer represents a 41 percent premium from WonderFi’s last closing price on the Toronto Stock Exchange to a 71 percent premium on its 300-day volume-weighted average price. The deal is subject to approval from regulators and shareholders and is expected to be closed in late 2025.

The acquisition is essential to Robinhood’s commitment to widening its horizons into international crypto markets. WonderFi, a company known for providing digital asset products and services, will continue operating its platform after the acquisition. Its leadership team will also join Robinhood Crypto, augmenting the company’s workforce in Canada.
Johann Kerbrat, General Manager at Robinhood, said the established brands and attention to beginner and advanced crypto users made WonderFi a perfect fit. He has affirmed that the company aims to roll out user-centered crypto offerings that fit into the Canadian market.
Strategic Growth Triggers Investor Confidence and Stock Rally
Before the deal was made public, WonderFi’s market value had dropped 13 percent year-to-date. However, WonderFi President and CEO Dean Skurka expressed confidence in the partnership despite this. He noted that both companies aim to make digital assets more accessible to users across all experience levels.
Robinhood’s latest performance on the stock market indicates increasing guidance from investors. HOOD stock is up 28% over the last five days and 42.7% since October. The acquisition has given this upward trend additional fuel.

The firm is also considering blockchain platforms such as Solana and Arbitrum as part of its broader plan to tokenize US equities.
Robinhood is expanding its reach on international markets with its $ 179 million acquisition of WonderFi. The steep hike in the price of HOOD stock clearly indicates high investor confidence in a company whose crypto footprint stretches outside the boundaries of the United States.
