The XRP Ledger is moving closer to its next major upgrade as developers completed a community-driven security review of five proposed protocol amendments. According to RippleX Head of Product Jazzi Cooper, the upcoming XRPL 3.3.0 release introduces new privacy, transaction and institutional features before they advance toward activation.
According to Cooper, the release includes Confidential Multi-Purpose Tokens, Batch Transactions, Permission Delegation, Sponsored Fees and Reserves, and Dynamic Multi-Purpose Tokens. Together, these amendments aim to expand the network’s capabilities while supporting enterprise and developer use cases.
Confidential Multi-Purpose Tokens introduce native privacy by combining zero-knowledge proofs with elliptic-curve encryption. As a result, issuers can support confidential token transfers without relying on external privacy solutions.
Batch Transactions allow users to execute up to eight transactions across different accounts within one atomic operation. Consequently, developers can build more complex applications while reducing settlement risks.
Permission Delegation gives institutions the ability to assign limited transaction permissions without exposing full signing authority. Meanwhile, Sponsored Fees and Reserves enable one account to cover another account’s transaction fees and reserve requirements. Dynamic Multi-Purpose Tokens also allow issuers to determine which token properties remain editable after issuance.

Community review strengthens proposed amendments
According to the XRPL Operations account on X, Ripple partnered with Web3 security firm Sherlock to conduct adversarial testing before the proposed amendments reach activation. The program invited security researchers and community members to examine each feature under competitive conditions.
Researchers focused on Batch Transactions, Permission Delegation, MPT decentralized exchange functionality, Confidential Transfers for Multi-Purpose Tokens, and Sponsored Fees and Reserves. These features cover transaction processing, delegated authority, token privacy, market infrastructure, and reserve management.
The two-week review produced 96 valid findings across all five feature areas. Participants identified two critical issues, six high-severity issues, 29 medium issues and 59 low-severity issues. Moreover, every proposed amendment received at least one verified report during the assessment.
Ripple unlocked $309,000 in RLUSD rewards for participants whose submissions helped identify vulnerabilities. Therefore, developers can address the reported issues before validators consider enabling the amendments on the XRP Ledger.
XRPL prepares for the next protocol release
Earlier this month, developers released XRPLÂ version 3.2.1 as a hotfix following the manifest flood incident reported on July 31. That update restored network stability while allowing work on the larger protocol upgrade to move forward.
The completion of the Sherlock review represents another milestone for XRPL 3.3.0. According to Cooper and the XRPL Operations account, the testing process provided additional confidence by uncovering vulnerabilities before activation, allowing developers to strengthen the proposed amendments before they reach the live network.
