XRP Whales Scoop Up 72 Million Tokens as Holdings Jump Toward 12.18 Billion

In Brief:

  • XRP whales accumulated more than 72 million tokens as combined holdings climbed toward 12.18 billion despite persistent price weakness near $1.
  • XRP trades near the lower Bollinger Band at $0.988, while RSI at 35.60 reflects weak momentum without reaching oversold territory.
  • A recovery above $1.049 could strengthen XRP’s structure, while losing $0.988 may expose the token to deeper downside pressure.

XRP whales have accumulated more than 72 million tokens in the past 24 hours, despite the cryptocurrency trading near the crucial $1 level. According to crypto analyst Ali Charts, large holders increased their positions as combined whale holdings moved toward 12.18 billion XRP. Santiment data shows balances rising from roughly 12.08 billion XRP, while the reported purchase represents approximately $72 million at prices near $1.

Whale Accumulation Builds During Price Weakness

Large investors accumulate during declines when lower valuations match their longer-term strategies. Moreover, reduced exchange transfers can limit tokens available for immediate selling. Separate on-chain analysis indicates that whale transfers toward exchanges have fallen approximately 38.9%. Lower exchange inflows can reduce sell-side pressure when major holders retain tokens instead.

However, accumulation alone does not confirm an incoming XRP rally. Whales may buy for portfolio adjustments, longer investment horizons, or strategic positioning around lower valuations.

Besides, the contrast between growing whale balances and weak price action makes the $1 region particularly important. Sustained accumulation alongside stronger buying pressure would indicate that large-holder demand is influencing market structure.

XRP Price Holds Near Lower Bollinger Band

XRP’s daily Bitstamp chart shows the token trading around $1.003, keeping the price near the psychological $1 support area. Its Bollinger middle band stands near $1.049, leaving XRP below an important technical reference.

Additionally, the lower Bollinger Band sits around $0.988, while the upper band stands near $1.110. Holding above the lower boundary could help preserve the current support structure.

The Relative Strength Index reads approximately 35.60, below its moving average near 39.58. This reading reflects weak momentum without placing XRP below the traditional oversold threshold of 30.

A recovery above $1.049 could improve the short-term structure and bring $1.110 resistance into focus. Conversely, losing $0.988 could expose XRP to deeper downside pressure.

Conclusion

Whale accumulation shows major XRP holders are buying despite weak technical momentum. Still, stronger price confirmation remains necessary before the 72 million XRP purchase supports a broader bullish reversal.
