These updates addressed four vulnerabilities affecting transaction validation and accounting processes. One issue involved Orchard transaction encoding, which could cause nodes to crash under certain conditions. Another flaw created a gap in consensus enforcement between the two clients, raising concerns about a possible chain split.
Additionally, engineers discovered a weakness that could disable enforcement of turnstile accounting in zcashd. This mechanism ensures that shielded and transparent balances remain consistent.
