XRP Community Member Impersonates Judge Torres – As the legal tussle between Ripple and the SEC gets heated, the XRP community members continue to react to the latest updates including false ones.
On May 25, a parody account @XRPP on Twitter focused on tweeting humor about Ripple (XRP) posted a false claim saying that Judge Analisa Torres is ready to release the ruling in the Ripple vs SEC case.
A screenshot showing a fake conversation between XRPP and an impersonator of Judge Torress was attached to the tweet. According to the conversation, the fake account impersonating Judge Torres stated that she was ready to make a ruling.
The conversation went on with Judge Torres parody asking XRPP for a specific timeline to release the ruling.

Ripple CTO David Schwartz reacts
Even though it was quite obvious that the conversation was fake and the accounts involved were not legit, Ripple’s CTO Schwartz reacted to the post with a warning. He reminded @XRPP about the consequence of impersonation stating that it is probably a crime to impersonate a U.S. federal judge.
“(Badly) impersonating a Federal judge is (probably) a crime.” he wrote
(Badly) impersonating a Federal judge is (probably) a crime.

Responding to Schwartz’s comment, XRPP asked him if it is legal to professionally impersonate a Federal Judge. “But what about ‘expertly’ impersonating a Federal judge? Legal?” XRPP asked.
XRP lawyer Bill Morgan joined in the conversation and seem to understand that XRPP was only making a joke. He asked if its a crime to be funny.
Is funny and witty even a crime?

Schwartz did not respond to XRPP or attorney Morgan’s statements. Unlike other Ripple executives, the vocal CTO does not publicly comment on the pending case. He focuses on the company’s technical features and dispels myths regarding Ripple products.
Possible End of the Ripple vs SEC Case
There have been speculations that the ongoing legal tussle between Ripple and the Securities and Exchange Commission will soon come to an end. The case which has been going on for two years now approaches a possible ruling.
