XRP Ledger Sets Transaction Record With 3,254 Transfers in One Ledger

The XRP Ledger processed 3,254 transactions within one ledger, establishing a new record for validated activity. According to XRPL validator Vet, one-drop payments dominated the ledger and may have formed part of a throughput test.


One drop represents the smallest divisible unit of XRP, making these payments lighter than transactions involving several network functions. However, the activity demonstrated how XRPL handles a concentrated volume of simple payments during one ledger closure.


The record does not mean XRPL permanently increased its transaction capacity or established a fixed maximum for every ledger. Instead, the network uses an adjustable transaction target influenced by processing conditions and validator performance.

How XRPL Adjusts Its Transaction Target

When activity exceeds the existing target, XRPL evaluates whether validators completed consensus within an acceptable period. Validators can raise the target when a crowded ledger closes quickly without creating processing difficulties.


Consequently, capacity can respond to operating conditions while protecting network performance during periods of increased demand. A basic XRP payment requires fewer resources than transactions involving permissions, multiple operations, tokens, or account changes.


Therefore, processing 3,254 one-drop transfers differs considerably from handling the same number of resource-intensive transactions. Vet highlighted this distinction while explaining why the record does not represent a universal measurement of XRPL throughput.


Amendment Voting Nears Required Threshold

Meanwhile, validators are considering several protocol amendments introduced through the xrpld 3.3.0 software release. The package includes BatchV1_1, ConfidentialTransfer, DynamicMPT, PermissionDelegationV1_1, Sponsor, and several protocol fixes.


Among those proposals, BatchV1_1 has moved closest to securing the validator support required for network activation. As of September 14, 27 of 35 trusted validators had signaled support for the amendment.


That figure represents roughly 77%  approval, placing BatchV1_1 near the required 80% validator threshold. However, reaching that threshold alone does not immediately activate an amendment across the XRP Ledger.


A proposal must maintain enough support throughout the required voting period before validators implement it across the network. Overall, the 3,254-transaction ledger demonstrated strong handling of lightweight transfers without proving permanently expanded network capacity.
