Huge News: Ripple and Arf Partner to Bring $10 Billion Settlement Network to XRPL

In Brief:

  • Ripple and Arf have partnered to bring RLUSD settlement liquidity to XRPL, connecting blockchain infrastructure with $10 billion in payment operations.
  • Arf provides short-term financing with repayment periods of one to five days, allowing payment companies to access recurring settlement liquidity.
  • Arf plans to integrate XRPL native lending infrastructure, with RLUSD supporting financing activities and XRP covering network fees and reserves.

Ripple and Swiss financial institution Arf have partnered to bring RLUSD-powered settlement liquidity to the XRP Ledger (XRPL). According to the partnership announcement, Arf will introduce its settlement financing services to XRPL, supporting licensed cross-border payment companies.

The collaboration connects Ripple’s blockchain infrastructure with Arf’s payment operations, which handle approximately $10 billion in annual settlement volumes. Through the arrangement, Arf will use Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin to provide short-term working capital for international payment transactions.

Ripple and Arf Bring RLUSD Settlement Liquidity to XRPL

Under the agreement, Arf will initially provide direct RLUSD settlement liquidity to licensed payment companies through the XRP Ledger. The service will help payment providers access working capital while waiting for international transactions to complete settlement.

Arf typically structures its settlement financing around repayment periods ranging from one to five days. This arrangement allows the company to redeploy repaid capital across additional payment transactions, supporting recurring financing activity.

Since launching in November 2022, Arf has expanded its operations to approximately $10 billion in annual global settlement volumes. The company also reports that its working capital turns over four times monthly, reflecting repeated financing and repayment cycles.

Arf co-founder and CEO Ali Erhat Nalbant highlighted the company’s settlement operations and the partnership with Ripple.

“We’re meeting that need at scale, with $10 billion in annual settlement volume and capital turning over four times a month.”

RippleX Head of Product Jasmine Cooper also highlighted the roles of XRPL and RLUSD.

“XRPL provides fast, efficient settlement, while RLUSD provides a regulated dollar stablecoin.“

Arf Plans to Integrate XRPL Native Lending Infrastructure

Beyond the initial settlement service, Arf plans to integrate its financing activities with XRPL’s proposed native lending infrastructure. The planned integration involves Single Asset Vaults and the Lending Protocol, which support capital management and structured lending arrangements.

Single Asset Vaults will allow capital pooling onchain, while the Lending Protocol will facilitate loans through XRPL’s native infrastructure. Arf will handle underwriting and working capital decisions outside the blockchain while managing eligible lending activity through the protocol.

The company has already developed an implementation using the proposed lending specifications and will provide feedback during development. Both components require approval through XRPL’s amendment process before becoming available on the mainnet. Arf intends to transition its financing program once the XLS-65 and XLS-66 amendments activate.

RLUSD and XRP to Support Different Settlement Functions

The partnership establishes separate functions for RLUSD and XRP within Arf’s planned settlement financing operations. RLUSD will support dollar-denominated financing activities, including loan disbursements, repayments, and recurring working capital arrangements.

Meanwhile, XRP will support underlying network transactions through payment fees and applicable reserve requirements on the XRP Ledger. Arf’s regulated infrastructure will also allow licensed institutions to manage treasury operations between fiat currencies and stablecoins. Payment companies can access these services without directly managing blockchain transactions or operating their own on-chain infrastructure.

The partnership brings Arf’s established settlement financing model to XRPL while preparing its operations for native blockchain lending. Ripple and Arf will initially use RLUSD for direct settlement liquidity, with broader protocol integration dependent on amendment activation.
