Strategy expanded its Bitcoin treasury with another $22.1 million acquisition between October 12 and October 18, bringing its holdings to 848,517 BTC. According to its October 19 SEC filing, the company purchased 267 BTC at an average price of $82,900 per coin.
The acquisition increases Strategy’s exposure to Bitcoin price movements, linking more of its corporate treasury value to the cryptocurrency. Its holdings now represent more than 4% of Bitcoin’s maximum supply, maintaining its position as the largest publicly traded corporate holder.
Strategy has invested approximately $64 billion in Bitcoin, with an average acquisition price of $75,446 per coin. The latest purchase also demonstrates the company’s reliance on equity financing to expand its digital asset reserves.
During the reporting period, Strategy sold 140,872 shares of its Class A common stock through its at-the-market offering program. These transactions generated approximately $22 million, while the company covered the remaining $100,000 using existing cash holdings.
Following these sales, approximately $18.79 billion remained available under Strategy’s MSTR stock offering program. The available capacity allows additional share issuance, although the company has not confirmed specific future Bitcoin purchases.

The acquisition followed an October 18 post from executive chairman Michael Saylor featuring Strategy’s Bitcoin purchase tracker. Saylor wrote, “We found room for more orange,” signaling another potential addition to the company’s cryptocurrency holdings.

Strategy Expands Preferred Share Repurchases and Maintains Cash Reserves
Alongside its Bitcoin acquisition, Strategy repurchased 1,938,780 STRC preferred shares for approximately $193.1 million during the reporting period. The company financed these transactions using its existing USD Cash reserve rather than proceeds from Bitcoin sales.
Strategy also allocated approximately $45.5 million from its USD Reserve to cover preferred stock dividend obligations. These payments highlight the company’s financial commitments associated with its preferred securities financing structure.
As of October 18, Strategy reported approximately $4.83 billion in its USD Reserve and $447.3 million in USD Cash. Meanwhile, its board increased the authorized amount under its digital credit securities repurchase program from $2 billion to $3 billion.
The company’s preferred stock financing approach has attracted scrutiny from analysts examining its growing dividend obligations. K33 Head of Research Vetle Lunde identified common stock issuance as a potentially more efficient method of financing Bitcoin purchases.
Strategy Maintains Corporate Bitcoin Lead Amid MSCI Index Concerns
Strategy’s growing Bitcoin holdings come as MSCI introduces classification rules that could affect digital asset treasury companies. The changes could result in Strategy and other cryptocurrency treasury firms losing eligibility for certain MSCI indexes.
Meanwhile, Strategy remains the largest corporate Bitcoin holder among 198 publicly traded companies with cryptocurrency reserves. Bitcoin Treasuries data places Metaplanet second with 44,000 BTC, followed by Twenty One with 43,514 BTC.
Strive and MARA complete the five largest corporate Bitcoin holders, controlling approximately 35,595 BTC and 35,577 BTC, respectively. These figures illustrate Strategy’s substantial lead over other publicly traded companies accumulating Bitcoin.
At ParaFi Investor Day, executive chairman Michael Saylor also outlined a proposal for Bitcoin-backed digital financial products. His vision included a dollar-pegged stablecoin offering potential yields between 6% and 8%, although no launch date was confirmed.
Strategy’s latest acquisition brings its total Bitcoin holdings to 848,517 BTC, purchased for approximately $64 billion. Its remaining equity issuance capacity and expanded securities repurchase authorization provide financial flexibility as the company manages its Bitcoin treasury.
